OUR STORY

More than 1,600 young people signed up for I Am My City Parks, and our funders approved us to serve 400 Six local vendors, many of them small community businesses, helped make it happen. They provided hot meals, daily bus rides, hands-on learning experiences for every child. Every one of them delivered on their promise.

What Happened
Our funding required 70% average daily attendance. We fell short, and the funds set aside to pay our vendors were withdrawn after the program ended. We take full responsibility. Our vendors did everything we asked, and they shouldn’t carry the cost of our shortfall. More than $300,000 in invoices remains unpaid.

Why Your Gift Matters
Behind every unpaid invoice is a business owner, bus driver, cook, or instructor who showed up for our kids. Your gift helps us keep our word to the people who kept theirs.

Where Your Money Goes
Every dollar goes directly to vendor invoices:

• Food and meals: $15,000

• Transportation: $16,500

• Enrichment partners: $205,000

• Camp Leadership Co Operators: $30,000

• PR Consulting: $7500

• Advanced Funds: $30,000

Our first $50,000 will pay the most urgent invoices first, while we work with our board, funders, and partners to cover the rest.

What We’re Changing
We’re adding daily attendance automation tracking, family reminders, and stronger transportation support so every program meets its requirements and every partner is paid on time.

Our Promise
We’ll post an update each time a vendor is paid. Any funds beyond our goal will go toward the remaining balance. We link all vendors social or website.
